A super predictable movie with all the usual horror tropes, it adds nothing new to the genre with either it's premise or it's delivery. I can think of several books and movies with a similar, or the same, premise that do it much better. It was not scary, or disturbing, or horrifying, or even slight discomfort inducing. There are no surprises because they always give away the surprise in the scene directly before the "surprise" happens, there was no twist ending because from the beginning of the movie they tell you multiple times exactly who the bad guys are, by placing large neon signs above their head with the words "Bad Guy" and an arrow pointing to them. They literally spoil every potential surprise or twist THEMSELVES. It's almost like the creators said "Hey audience, you're all idiots too stupid to follow a film's plot, so to make it easy for you we reaaaaaalllllly dumbed it down so you don't get lost and there is no need for thinking. Then the ending (Potential spoiler ahead, it does not give away any of the plot, what little of it there is) but it goes like this: Black people handle their business. one of the characters literally says that almost verbatim as the last line of the movie before it ends. Conclusion: Although it isn't a terrible movie by any means, it's not a very good one either. It's mindless, and run of the mill. HUGE SPOILER AHEAD DON'T READ BELOW IF YOU DON'T WANT THE PREMISE SPOILED!
I believe that the movie is trying to vaguely imply racism in the "old white people" kidnapping a bunch of "young black people" to use their bodies as vessels to live longer, as if to make you say "Hey, these old white people really don't like black people! BUT, if these people are supposed to be racist, the notion is completely destroyed by the premise. If they really were racist against black people, they wouldn't want their brains going into the body of an African American. Some racist old white dude is not gonna be okay with living an entire life inside of a black body. I think they really wanted to go the race route, but weren't entirely brave enough to go through with it and gave up on it halfway through so as not to offend anyone. It probably would have been a far more interesting movie, and quite a bit more horrifying if they were kidnapping the young black people, and I don't know, maybe lobotomizing them and forcing them into domestic slavery, then when they try to do it to our main character, he somehow kills them and escapes, with lots of tension and horrific encounters, maybe a couple rescues of the enslaved. Now that I would have enjoyed, that movie would have been a hell of a lot more scary and disturbing. When I turn off a good horror movie after it's finished, I am either: A - afraid to turn off the lights and don't sleep much that night, or B - deeply disturbed for hours afterward. When I turned off this movie, all I felt was annoyance, and that I had wasted a couple hours of my life.
